Keeping you involved

Role of the Key person
When your child starts with us, they will be assigned a "keyperson", which means that one of our practitioners in your child's room will now be the main familiar carer to your child. They will be the "key" person to plan & create experiences and opportunities for them alongside observing your child's learning journey whilst in our care. Each child's progression is recorded in a developmental summary record which is carried out throughout the nursery and you take them with you to your child's new school/setting when he/she leaves.

The nursery holds a parent/carer evening twice annually to give parents an opportunity to spend time with the key person and talk about your child's development, it's also a great way for us to learn more about your child when they are at home.

Each Child under 2 years old will receive a daily diary, which our practitioners complete during each session to record important information about your child (soiled nappies/mealtimes). We will also include details of your child's activities throughout the session and their disposition with any further relevant comments to give parent/carers as much information about their child's day as possible. We also ensure all staff spend time with parents/carers to personally discuss the session with them.

Children over 2 years of age will receive a daily feedback sheet with similar information as the under 2's, with more focus on the daily activities/current topic/suggested activities you can carry out at home.
